Boarding For Breast Cancer(B4BC) is a non-profit, youth-focused education, awareness and fundraising foundation. Their mission is to increase awareness about breast cancer, the importance of early detection and the value of an active lifestyle. The inspiration for B4BC, was a young woman named Monica Steward. Monica, who was a very dear friend of all B4BC founders, started her battle with breast cancer at the age of 26. Tragically, Monica passed away 2 years later from complications arising from this deadly disease.

B4BC was founded as a result of Monica voicing her frustration with the lack of awareness for young women about this disease, to friends and future co-founders…Tina Basich…Shannon Dunn…Lisa Hudson and Kathleen Gasperini. Their idea was to create an event that centered around their mutual passions…snowboarding and music, that would communicate the message of awareness, raise money for research and educate young women about breast cancer. Unfortunately, Monica passed away 3 months before her inaugural Boarding for Breast Cancer Snowboard + Music Festival event.

Today, year round, B4BC educators hit the road with their travelling educational booth making stops at over 25 sports and music events. Some of these events are the ESPN X Games, US OPEN of Snowboarding, US OPEN of Surging and the Van's Warped Tour. Over 100,000 young adults are educated at these events on the importance of Early Detection + Active Lifestyle=Best Prevention.
